Plant Manager

Reports To: Vice President/General Manager or VP of Manufacturing/Operations

Department: Manufacturing/Production

Location: Rockford

Supervises: Yes

FLSA Status: Exempt

Primary Duties:

1. Promotes and models Business Excellence to create a lean culture where all employees are empowered and accountable. Ensure that all employees are focused on safety, quality, productivity, and continuous improvement.

2. Supports, promotes and models the company’s processes and policies.

3. Develops and implements a plan to efficiently produce the company’s products while attaining customer quality and delivery expectations. Revises production schedules and priorities as needed in response to any production issues.

4. Directly supervises the production supervisors, maintenance personnel, and the tool room personnel and is responsible for their job structures, selection, development, appraisal, and pay proposals.

5. Directs the activities for the machining, assembly, maintenance, and tool room departments to achieve the company’s goals.

6. Coordinates production activities with production planning, customer service, procurement, and quality assurance activities to achieve optimum utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

7l Consults with manufacturing and product engineering regarding improvements to product design, fixturing, equipment, and machines to increase product quality and productivity.

8. Analyzes production, quality control, maintenance, and operational reports to determine causes of nonconformity with product specifications, operational processes, and other production issues.

9. Develops the expense and capital budgets for the area of responsibility and implements appropriate cost control methods to meet budget commitments.

10. All other activities and duties assigned.

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND EXPERIENCE:

Required:┬áBachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business, operations management, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or a related field.

Preferred:┬áTen years of operations management experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing CNC technology. Operations experience in a manufacturing environment utilizing vendor management system (VMI). Six Sigma and Lean certification. Master’s degree in business or engineering.
