Job Title:  Health & Safety Coach, Child Care Assistance Program

Reports to:  CCAP Supervisor

 

Job summary

Responsible for scheduling and conducting on-site visits to License Exempt (LE) child care providers who receive payment through the IDHS Child Care Assistance Program. Assists with Health and Safety requirements for Licensed Exempt Providers

Minimum requirements

  • Must have at least an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent education and/or experience in social work, customer service, data entry or related field. Equivalent defined as college credits and/or work hours equal to two (2) full years of education and/or full-time work (Staff hired in this position prior to July 1, 2020 are grandfathered in)
  • Must be able to clear a comprehensive background check including: child abuse and neglect (CANTS), Sex Offender Registry (SOR) and Criminal background via fingerprint check
  • Technical proficiency with a personal computer and various software packages
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Enjoy working as a team member as well as independently
  • Ability to lift 30 pounds, sit, stand, bend, and twist
  • Ability to type at least 30 words per minute
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license and valid vehicle insurance
  • Must become Gateways to Opportunities Registry member within two (2) months of employment
  • Obtain and document a minimum of fifteen (15) hours of professional development annually
  • Completion of INCCRRA CSD training within one year of hire
  • Individual must successfully complete the required training for this position within three (3) months of hire

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Contact LE providers to schedule & conduct on-site monitoring visits
  • Identifies health and safety violations in LE child care settings and as needed, develops a Corrective Action Plan and schedules follow up visits
  • Work with the LE provider community to enhance the quality of care being provided in the child care setting
  • Maintain files and enter LE Provider information into software programs
  • Report abuse/neglect and illegal child care operations
  • Outreach to LE Child Care programs
  • Assisting LE Child Care providers with completion of online trainings
  • Research, gather, and track data for health, safety and child development
  • Adheres to CCR&R employee policy & procedures
  • Observes reporting requirements and meets deadlines
  • Constant phone utilization to schedule visits, plan upcoming training and communicate with providers
  • Provides basic technical assistance to child care providers on issues related to Health, Safety and Child Development training requirements
  • Stays current with new policy changes & updates
  • Links parents and providers to other CCS and YWCA programs for additional support
  • Preserves confidentiality of program, client, and provider information
  • Participates in staff meetings, working to uphold the mission of CCS and the YWCA
  • Participates in continuing education activities
  • Communicates with impartiality and respect for all parents’/guardians’ child care choices
  • Speaks to the purpose and services of the program
  • Responds with sensitivity to families’ socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic and religious backgrounds, individual needs and capabilities
  • Performs other duties as required by Supervisor, Directors and CEO

 

Physical Activities: May have to frequently stand and/or occasionally climb (steps, etc.) and get in and out of a motor vehicle.


Working Conditions:
Work will be performed at the CCR&R office, at license exempt family child care homes, and license-exempt child care centers.  Occasional evening & weekend work hours.
